A baby boy who miraculously survived a car accident that killed his mother while he was still in the womb is now 18 months old and thriving in his father’s care.
Tasmanian woman Sarah Paino, 24, was 32 weeks pregnant with her second son Caleb when she was killed in a crash caused by a hoon in a stolen car.
Ms Paino died in the January 2016 collision but paramedics and doctors saved Caleb, delivering him by emergency caesarean section.
While Caleb was in good spirits, Mr Stirling said the past year and a half without his partner had been difficult.
‘It’s a very full-on gig, it’s a full-time gig,’ he told Sunday Night.
‘But I wouldn’t change it for the world, I mean I would as such, I’d have Sarah back in a heartbeat.
‘But I’m pushing on, I’m doing the best I can.’
Mr Stirling opened up about his story to Sunday Night, which is due to air on Channel Seven at 8.30pm on Sunday.
